The Scientific Journal of UCSA disseminates scientific research work carried out by professionals in the areas of Engineering, Social Sciences, Business, and Humanities. It publishes original articles, review articles, current topic articles, update articles, short communications, letters to the editor, case reports, and editorials.

The journal receives manuscripts in Spanish or English, with title, abstract, and keywords in both languages.

The Journal is an open access publication, meaning that all its content is available free of charge and without restrictions to users or their institutions. Reading, downloading, copying, distributing, printing, searching, or linking to the full texts of the articles is permitted without prior authorization from the publisher or the authors, in line with the open access definition of the Budapest Open Access Initiative.

The journal is published three times a year (April, August, and December), does not charge fees for evaluation or publication, and accepts previously published articles (preprints) on specialized servers. Authors may deposit preprint versions of their work in institutional, thematic, or personal repositories, even prior to their formal evaluation or publication.

Editorial Policy

The Scientific Journal of UCSA is committed to publishing its issues in digital format, as well as distributing them in databases and libraries in the country and around the world. All articles received will be reviewed by one or two area editors, who will determine whether the text is relevant to the journal's subject matter.

All articles accepted by the Editorial Committee are sent for evaluation by national and/or international external academic peers. The article review process is conducted under a double-blind model, ensuring the confidentiality and anonymity of authors and reviewers.

Reviewers issue their opinion in one of three options: a) Accepted without modification, b) Accepted incorporating the proposed modifications, c) Rejected.

The factors on which the Editorial Committee bases its decision to accept or reject works are:

• Originality/Novelty
• Scientific importance/Impact
• Appropriate methodology and experimental design
• Quality of the data, presentation, and results

The following are grounds for immediate rejection of a manuscript:

• Multiple or redundant submission.
• Deliberate use of false or inaccurate data.
• Plagiarism.
• Impersonation.
• Defamation.
• Falsification of information and documentation.
• Falsification of authorship, including authors who did not collaborate on the work.

Interoperability

The Scientific Journal of UCSA implements the OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) interoperability protocol, which allows metadata to be harvested by other distribution systems.

Digital Preservation

The Scientific Journal of UCSA uses the LOCKSS system to create a storage system distributed among participating libraries, enabling the creation of permanent archives for conservation and restoration purposes.

The OJS information backup is performed daily through incremental and differential copies, allowing recovery of modified or deleted data.

In the event of technical failures, the journal has a backup server with the same configuration, allowing the affected equipment to be replaced. In addition, an automatic synchronization system is in place between the backup server and the production server.
